National Curriculum Purpose of study

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Our aim is to encourage our children to be active and supports them in their understanding of how to participate safely and effectively. Our PE curriculum aims be inclusive and ensure that pupils of all abilities access the range of activities we offer and that they are physically active for sustained periods of time in order to encourage them to lead healthy, active lives.

Our curriculum is based around sports and games wherein pupils are taught key skills and knowledge required in the National Curriculum. Progression develops both throughout individual units and across year groups to provide pupils with the best opportunity to learn.

Activities at Lunchtime and after school clubs further encourage pupils to engage with PE and incorporate into their daily routines. We also take part in several inter-school competitions, such as Atheletics, cricket, baskeball & football across the Trust and the Local Authorty Development Group.
